Conclusions

First of all, let me remind you that all RADEON HD 5xxx cards support the new DirectX 11 API, higher-quality anisotropic filtering, triple-monitor configurations, as well as other features described in our baseline review. RADEON HD 5850 is the pared-down (hence less performing) modification of HD 5870, so it competes with GTX 275 instead of GTX 285. According to our tests, HD 5850 performs rather good compared to the rival, though it has its share of defeats. It also performs well compared to the more expensive GTX 285 (if you take product prospects into account -- as you remember, GTX cards only support DirectX 10).

Both cards are bundled with Colin McRae Dirt2. Obviously, AMD adds this title to all HD 58xx cards.

HIS RADEON HD 5850 1024MB copies the reference design, so there isn't much to say aside from the aforementioned statements.

Sapphire RADEON HD 5850 1024MB is identical.

If you're looking for a RADEON HD 5850, just buy the cheapest available. Don't pay attention to ads, all these cards are identical (at the moment of publication).

We express gratitude to Sapphire and HIS for the provided graphics cards. The PSU has been provided by TAGAN, the monitor has been provided by NVIDIA.
