Adtec announces waterproof SD series, AD-SDPS

ADTEC announced its new waterproof SecureDigital (SD) series, AD-SDPS, that offers 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB and 1GB capacities.


Brief features are:

  • 6MB/s throughput
  • -25°C ~ +85°C operating thermal mode, —40°C ~ +85°C non-operating thermal mode
  • Meets JIS class 6.7 water resistance standard
  • Vibrations up to 15g
  • Shocks up to 1000g
  • 24x32x2.1mm size
  • ~2g weight

Sparkle announces SP8836U3-DT DDR3 graphics card on FX5700 Ultra GPU

The list of companies making graphics cards on FX5700 Ultra GPU and DDR3 memory was extended today with Sparkle that announced its SP8836U3-DT novelty.



The new AGP 8x/4x card bases on the aforementioned 475MHz NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 Ultra, has 128MB of 128-bit 950MHz DDR3. In other words, it´s a worthy product line addition on a good NVIDIA GPU that will smooth over the waiting for NV4x.

Conexant releases PRISM GT and PRISM WorldRadio USB2.0 chipsets

Conexant Systems, the broadband, corporate and SOHO networking product manufacturer, released its PRISM GT (802.11g) and PRISM WorldRadio (802.11a/g) USB2.0 chipsets to be used by all major WLAN vendors like 3Com, Buffalo Technology, D-Link, IOGEAR, Linksys, NETGEAR, and SMC Networks.


Having integrated baseband processor, MAC controller and USB2.0 interface into a single chip will allow developers lower production costs of IEEE 802.11 and USB 2.0 devices. Besides, PRISM USB 2.0 supports PRISM Nitro XM (Xtreme Multimedia) software extensions providing up to 140Mbps throughput.

Therefore Conexant´s portfolio now includes CardBus 32, mini-PC, 16-bit parallel, serial, and USB chips.

IDF Spring 2004 Japan: four new LV/ULV Pentium M, Celeron M and ULV Celeron M processors

Today in Tokyo started IDF Spring 2004 Japan. One of the key events was the announcement of Intel´s four new mobile processors: 1.30GHz Low Voltage Pentium M, 1.10GHz Ultra-Low Voltage Pentium M, 1.40GHz Celeron M and 900MHz Ultra Low Voltage Celeron M, all based on 0.13µm Banias core.

It seems to be the last Banias-based series before the Dothan generation. Prices for over 1,000-unit quantities are provided below:

Intel stops production of 2GHz Celeron and redecorates Itanium 2

Today Intel informed on some changes in its Celeron and Itanium 2 lines.

First, the company stopped the production of 2GHz desktop Celeron (C-1 stepping, S-Spec SL73H and 45W TDP) due to standard reasons — transition to more powerful models. Orders will be accepted until May 7, while the shipments will last until October 8, 2004.

Second, Intel redecorated Itanium 2 due to changes in processor labelling technology. On April 26 the company will start shipping Madison-F and Madison-I series with new 2D "matrix" labels that will look like this:

Virtual keyboard made real

Two years ago we first heard of a virtual keyboard concept introduced by Canesta that utilized a visible laser projecting keyboard image onto, say, table, and an IR sensor monitoring your finger movements.

So, starting this month the Virtual Keyboard goes on sale under the iBIZ brand, the company that showcased the device at the recent CeBIT.


Virtual Keyboard features red and IR diode lasers, IR detector and USB interface. The Li-Ion battery provides up to 4 hours of work. The keyboard weighs 60g.

iBIZ Virtual Keyboard is compatible with PCs and notebooks that work under Windows 98/2000/NT/XP. And also with Palm m130, m500 Series, i705, Zire 71, Tungsten (excl. E series); Sony NR, NZ, NX, SJ, SL, T, TG, TJ; iPAQ 1900,2200,3800,3900,4100,4300,5400, 5500.

LG.Philips LCD unveils new products at EDEX 2004

At EDEX 2004 that started today in Tokyo LG.Philips LCD, a joint venture of LG and Philips, unveils its new TFT displays. Comparing to the product line showcased at CES 2004 in Las Vegas in January, there are several new solutions: 55" and 37" HDTV displays, 19" LCD monitor panel and 2.2" and 1.8" color COG LCDs for mobile handsets.



Besides, the company showcases:

  • 42", 30", 23" HDTV displays
  • 42", 30" heads-up panels
  • 23", 20", 17" LCD monitor panel
  • 17", 15.4" notebook panels
